Gifford entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska in 2019, signing with the Dallas Cowboys. He spent his first four NFL seasons in Dallas primarily as a special teams contributor before signing a two-year contract with the Tennessee Titans in 2023.
On March 13, 2025, Gifford signed with the San Francisco 49ers to bolster their linebacker depth and special teams units.
During the 2025 season, Gifford appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the 49ers, earning a career-high nine starts. He recorded 35 tackles, one pass defensed, and one fumble recovery while remaining a core member of the special teams coverage unit.
Over seven NFL seasons, Gifford has appeared in 90 regular-season games, totaling 130 tackles (two for a loss), three passes defensed, one interception, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. Following the 2025 campaign, he earned his first career Pro Bowl selection and was named to the 2025 Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA) All-NFC team.
