Seattle enters the game as the NFC's No. 1 seed, while the 49ers reached the postseason as the No. 6 seed and remain the lowest-seeded team still alive. As a result, San Francisco has no path to hosting the NFC Championship Game at Levi's Stadium.
However, the 49ers could still return to Levi's Stadium with a Super Bowl berth—though they would do so as the designated road team.
San Francisco has battled significant adversity throughout the season, losing multiple cornerstone players to injury. That trend continued in Sunday's win over the Eagles, as All-Pro tight end George Kittle suffered a torn Achilles. The injury ended Kittle's playoff run and places his availability for the 2026 season in serious doubt.
The 49ers will also likely be without safety Ji'Ayir Brown, who suffered a hamstring injury in the Wild Card victory.
Saturday's game marks the third meeting of the season between the 49ers and Seahawks. The teams split the regular-season series, with San Francisco earning a 17-13 win at Lumen Field in Week 1 before falling 13-3 in the regular-season finale in Week 18.
"I'm glad we get another shot," head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the win over the Eagles. "They played us real well, definitely beat us, but I know we can play better than that. So, glad we got another shot."
If the 49ers can pull off another road upset, they will advance to face the winner of Sunday's Divisional Round matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears.
