The San Francisco 49ers landed at No. 11 in the rankings with a 61% chance of making the postseason. Only four teams received higher playoff odds—the Buffalo Bills (81%), Baltimore Ravens (77%), Philadelphia Eagles (74%), and Kansas City Chiefs (71%).
San Francisco enters the season after an offseason filled with roster changes. The front office moved on from several veteran contributors while preparing for quarterback Brock Purdy to become the highest-paid player in franchise history. The team shifted its roster-building strategy, leaning on an infusion of younger, cost-effective talent—including 11 draft picks—to complement its established core.
Despite the turnover, the 49ers secured several cornerstone players. In addition to Purdy signing a five-year, $265 million contract extension, the team also locked in tight end George Kittle and linebacker Fred Warner, two of the longest-tenured leaders on offense and defense.
According to PFF, the 49ers hold a 35% chance of winning the NFC West in 2025—the best in the division—thanks to a projected schedule that is expected to be the easiest in the NFL. Beyond that, San Francisco owns just an 8% chance of winning the NFC Championship Game, tied with the Washington Commanders for the fourth-best odds in the conference.
As for the Super Bowl, PFF gives the 49ers only a 4% chance of winning it all—the same as the Commanders and Cincinnati Bengals. Six teams are listed with better odds, led by the Ravens and Bills (11% each) as the early favorites.
