San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy had hoped to attend Tight End University last week, but a scheduling conflict arose due to a charity golf event. However, he's now back at work with star tight end George Kittle in Nashville, Tennessee, and the duo was joined by one of Kittle's close friends and former teammates—quarterback C.J. Beathard, who is currently a free agent.

Not only were Kittle and Beathard teammates with the 49ers, but they were also college teammates at Iowa before San Francisco selected both in the 2017 NFL Draft. Beathard was a third-round pick, while Kittle went in the fifth round.

Beathard spent his first four NFL seasons with the 49ers before moving on to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He most recently spent time on the Miami Dolphins' practice squad before the Jaguars re-signed him to their roster in November 2024.

Interestingly, Beathard's departure from the 49ers to the Jaguars in 2021 resulted in San Francisco receiving a compensatory draft pick—the final selection of the 2022 NFL Draft, which the 49ers used to pick Purdy.

Purdy recently purchased a home in the Nashville area. He and Kittle getting valuable reps in together before training camp underscores their commitment to leading the 49ers back to contention in 2025.

The 49ers are coming off a disappointing 6-11 finish in 2024, which landed them in last place in the NFC West.

H/t to Nick San Miguel of Niner Noise for the find.
