According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, head coach Kyle Shanahan has completed his interview with Bullocks.
After just one season, the 49ers dismissed their last defensive coordinator, Steve Wilks. The defense ranked eighth in total yards allowed, third in points allowed, third in rushing yards allowed, and 14th in passing yards allowed during the regular season.
Bullocks has been with the 49ers since 2017, Shanahan's first year with the team. He began as the assistant defensive backs coach. Then, he transitioned to safeties coach in 2019 before assuming the role of defensive backs coach in 2023.
Before joining the 49ers, Bullocks served as the assistant defensive backs coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016, assistant coach/cornerbacks at Eastern Michigan University in 2015, and assistant coach/secondary coach at the University of Northern Iowa from 2012 to 2014.
