ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Samuel told several members of the organization that he was "OK." Still, the 49ers won't know the true extent of the injury until the completion of the tests.
"I don't know yet," head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game. "I mean, he tried to come back, couldn't do it. I know he did something similar versus Cleveland, so we'll see tomorrow."
Samuel missed most of the Week 6 game against the Browns and the subsequent two games due to a hairline fracture in his shoulder. San Francisco went 0-3 during that stretch of the season.
In a segment on NFL Network, Michael Irvin shared insights after speaking with Samuel following the game, providing a small update on the star receiver's condition.
"He said this time around he does feel better," Irvin said. "Last time he got hurt, he couldn't lift his arm. He said this time he could, so that gives him hope that he'll be good for next week."
Shanahan addressed the impact of Samuel's absence on the football field, acknowledging the challenges it brings.
"It changes a lot of stuff, especially when you have wristbands and things like that," Shanahan admitted. "You just got to switch some guys around, which is always a challenge for those guys. It happened during the Cleveland game, and we didn't handle it that well. I thought we handled it better today than we did then, but it is a huge challenge.
"Deebo is obviously one of our better players, but he also is a unique guy that goes to some certain spots, so you've got to be adjusting that all game."
