Peters is scheduled to interview with the Commanders this week, as Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reported.
Peters has been a part of general manager John Lynch's staff since 2017, completing his 21st NFL season and seventh with the 49ers. He spent his initial four years with the team serving as VP of player personnel before being promoted to assistant general manager in 2021.
Peters previously worked in various roles with the Denver Broncos (2009-16) and New England Patriots (2003-08). Considered a key asset on Lynch's respected staff, he consistently emerges as a top general manager candidate each offseason. Despite being sought after, Peters turned down interview requests from the Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals last year, choosing to remain in his role with the 49ers.
