Purdy aggravated his previous stinger injury, exiting Monday night's game in the fourth quarter. The initial injury occurred about a week earlier in a Week 15 contest against the Arizona Cardinals.
"Just watching him, how he was that week (after the Cardinals game), and then just being able to hear how he was today and talk to him last night after the game, I think he's going to be fine," Shanahan said. "I don't think it's going to bother him too [much].
"I mean, I don't want to take away from it. I'm sure it's a pain for him, but in overall things, I think he's going to be fine for us this week."
Purdy finished the game completing 18 of his 32 pass attempts for 255 yards with no touchdowns and four interceptions, earning his lowest passer rating as a starter—a 42.6 mark.
Regarding the injuries to players who missed the game, defensive tackle Arik Armstead is still in the same situation with his foot and knee injuries. The 49ers will wait to see how his rehab goes this week. The team hopes to get tight end Ross Dwelley back for practice this week. He is recovering from a high-ankle sprain.
Running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) should be a full practice participant this week. Shanahan expects linebacker Oren Burks (knee) to return too, and wide receiver Jauan Jennings remains in the concussion protocol.
The 49ers will return to the practice field in a later Wednesday session. It's a short week for the team, which will travel to face the Washington Commanders this weekend. After that, San Francisco will close out the regular season at home against the Los Angeles Rams.
