"Right now, it's a little sore," Samuel told Kay Adams this week. "Well, kind of a lot of sore, actually; kind of like day-to-day. It actually happened like the first play of the game. He (Browns S Juan Thornhill) kind of caught me in the bicep.
"I never had a stinger before, so I never knew what it felt like. So it kind of went numb for a little minute, and then I got all my feeling back, and then I was just in too much pain to go back out there."
Interestingly, when asked by Adams about the sensation of a stinger injury, Samuel backtracked his comments.
"I have no idea. I've never had one," Samuel told a somewhat confused Adams.
Like his head coach, Samuel doesn't want to reveal too much about the injury. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Shanahan noted that the team considers the receiver's status as day-to-day, refraining from delving into further specifics.
"We got to see how it recovers this week, and it's just how his body is going to handle it," Shanahan said. "You never know how those react. So we'll wait and see."
On a positive note, Samuel feels better than he did during the game, which bodes well for his potential Week 7 availability.
"We're going to do everything possible to try to get ready for Monday and just see how it goes during the week," Samuel said. "But from Sunday to now, it's way much better than what it was."
