While Trey Lance ended up with some respectable statistics, what fans saw on the field was uninspiring. The quarterback finished the game 10-of-15 for 112 passing yards, a touchdown, and a passer rating of 111.0, yet was the game's lowest-graded offensive player. He fared better when the pocket was clean, earning an overall grade of 65.9 in those scenarios. However, Lance's grade dropped to an abysmal 24.4 while under pressure.

His competition for the QB2 job, Sam Darnold, fared better. He was among the five highest-graded offensive 49ers players, completing five of eight passes for 84 yards. Brandon Allen, who entered late in the game, was the second-highest-graded 49ers player, behind only tight end Troy Fumagalli, and the fifth-highest-graded player of the game.

Tight end Ross Dwelley, who hauled in the deflected Lance pass—which probably should have been an interception—in the end zone for the team's lone score on the day, earned the game's highest receiving grade—90.4. He finished the game with three catches for 18 yards and the touchdown.


Isaiah Winstead was the highest-graded wide receiver, finishing the game with two catches for 22 yards.

Defensive end Kerry Hyder earned the highest defensive 49ers grade, recording a quarterback pressure in his five pass-rush snaps.

Cornerback D'Shawn Jamison has shined during training camp and finds himself among the five highest-graded 49ers defenders. He was targeted three times, giving up two receptions for only seven yards.

Cornerback A.J. Parker played only 14 snaps, earning a coverage grade of 89.9. He was targeted only once, resulting in a four-yard loss.

Rookie tight end Cameron Latu had a rough outing. He earned a respectable pass-blocking grade of 72.5 but had a costly fumble, giving him a 33.3 receiving grade.


Isaiah Oliver, expected to replace Jimmie Ward in the nickel cornerback spot, earned the game's worst coverage grade—29.4. He was targeted four times, giving up four receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown.
