One reporter pressed, though, stating that he is asking every team about their interest in Jackson.
"Everyone knows Lamar's skill set," Shanahan responded, hoping the reporter wasn't setting him up for a fine. "Lamar's a stud. I'm sure they'll work it out there. But Lamar's a great player."
The reporter asked if there was any interest from the 49ers.
"We've got three quarterbacks we're pretty good with right now," Shanahan responded, "and we're pretty set with how we've built our roster salary cap-wise."
Later, Shanahan reiterated how confident the team is in its quarterback room, which includes last season's rookie sensation, Brock Purdy, Trey Lance, and newcomer Sam Darnold.
At 25 years old, Darnold is the oldest of the group, and the two others remain on rookie contracts, allowing San Francisco to spend its money bolstering other positions, like adding defensive tackle Javon Hargrave in free agency.
"Our goal is always to see how good we can make the team, and we feel we're in a very good situation at quarterback right now," Shanahan noted, "not just with three guys who are capable of being starters, but we also got three guys that have allowed us to build a very good roster."
