On Monday, head coach Kyle Shanahan provided a list of players who emerged from Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys a bit dinged up. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel's name wasn't on the list then. That changed on Wednesday. The coach said Samuel was not expected to practice. However, the star wideout did end up getting some work in during Wednesday's session.
The 49ers don't sound too concerned about the receiver's ankle issue.
"It's just kind of sore," Samuel told reporters before Wednesday's practice. "It's just [us] being pretty cautious, just trying to get ready for Sunday."
Other than that, the names on Wednesday's injury report were pretty much the ones everyone expected. There was no Jimmy Garoppolo at practice. The 49ers don't expect the quarterback to be active on Sunday against the Eagles.
Running back Christian McCaffrey is dealing with a calf contusion, while running back Elijah Mitchell emerged from this past weekend's game with a groin injury.
It's worth noting that cornerback Ambry Thomas returned to practice, albeit as a limited participant. He suffered an ankle injury on December 15 against the Seattle Seahawks.
Below are Wednesday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Eagles, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
