The Washington Commanders made Compton (6-6, 315) a sixth-round selection out of South Dakota in 2012. He appeared in all 17 games, starting seven, this past season.
Compton, 32, has 123 game appearances in 123 game appearances (44 starts) through his 10 NFL seasons with Washington, the Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, and 49ers.
Compton becomes the second free agent offensive lineman lost by the 49ers. Laken Tomlinson signed a three-year, $40 million deal with the New York Jets. Compton joins defensive tackle D.J. Jones, who also signed with the Broncos.
