The status of offensive tackle Trent Williams remains the biggest question heading into the game. He suffered an ankle injury against the Green Bay Packers and is listed as "questionable" for Sunday after not practicing all week.
After Friday's practice, head coach Kyle Shanahan said that Williams remains hopeful that he will play against the Rams.
"He came out for walk-through today, and Trent's adamant that he's going," Shanahan said. "He was last time, too. I believe Trent when he says that he's going to do everything he can to play, so I'd be surprised if he doesn't. But I was surprised last time. I was also surprised he was able to finish the game versus Green Bay.
"So hopefully, his mindset will be how his body reacts on Sunday. We know it would help us a lot, but if not, we'll deal with it."
Shanahan was asked whether the offensive lineman is dealing with a high- or low-ankle sprain but was unwilling to provide an answer.
"Good question, though," Shanahan added.
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is no longer bothered by his shoulder injury but is still playing through a painful thumb injury. On Sunday, he'll have an opportunity to lead his team to a Super Bowl appearance for the second time in three years.
"Feels great. Arm's ready to roll," Garoppolo said of his shoulder.
The only other player listed as "questionable" is running back Jeff Wilson Jr.
