San Francisco 49ers tackle Trent Williams suffered an ankle injury during this past weekend's playoff win over the Green Bay Packers. However, he is hopeful of playing in Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Williams was spotted when the 49ers stepped onto the practice field on Friday. While the team will hold a walk-through on Saturday, Friday's session is the last full practice of the week. Williams did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday.


However, it is unknown how much Williams will do on Friday—if anything. Reporters are only allowed to watch practice until team drills begin, and the offensive lineman is not taking part in warmups, the first portion of practice.

"He's walking very slowly," noted Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.


"Trent Williams is in uniform but casually walking off the field as 49ers start their Friday practice," added Matt Barrows of The Athletic.


The 49ers will soon release the official game statuses for injured players and their practice participation report. We'll learn then whether or not Williams participated at all.

"I know how much this means to Trent," general manager John Lynch said on Thursday. "I believe, in his 11th year in the league, he hasn't had many opportunities in the playoffs. A guy like that, football means so much to him. He's going to do everything in his power, and Trent is doing that."


Lynch, like Williams and head coach Kyle Shanahan, is hopeful the All-Pro and Pro Bowl tackle will be on the field at SoFi Stadium on Sunday. The winning team will punch its ticket to the Super Bowl, which takes place at the same venue on February 13.

"[Williams is] doing treatment around the clock, I think making really good progress," Lynch added.

Running back Jeff Wilson Jr., who did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, was on hand for Friday's session.
