The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 9 contest against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

This week's big storyline is the status of Cardinals star quarterback Kyler Murray, who is dealing with an ankle injury. He did not practice today, but Murray and Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury believe the quarterback could be available for Sunday's game.

For the 49ers, tight end George Kittle, running back Jeff Wilson, and Kicker Robbie Gould returned to practice. Kittle and Gould are on injured reserve while Wilson is on the physically-unable-to-perform list.

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tackle Trent Williams sat out practice. Kyle Shanahan sounded optimistic that Samuel would be ready for Sunday, though.

"He couldn't go today," Shanahan said before practice. "Hopefully, he'll be able to go tomorrow. I'd be surprised if he can't go by Sunday, but he definitely can't go today."

Running back Elijah Mitchell, who was named the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week today, did not practice.

Samuel and Mitchell were both seen riding stationary bikes during the Wednesday afternoon session.

Below are Wednesday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Cardinals, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
