Trent Williams returned to practice today. The offensive tackle is returning from an ankle injury initially sustained in Week 5, and the tweaked last week.
"This has been the big test, to get him to Friday," head coach Kyle Shanahan said this morning on KNBR.
If Williams passed the test, he could be active on Sunday. The offensive lineman was listed as "questionable" for the upcoming game.
Quarterback Trey Lance has been practicing all week, albeit limited. Shanahan said Lance is set to be Jimmy Garoppolo's backup on Sunday. The rookie did not appear on this week's game status report.
Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair and defensive ends Dee Ford and Samson Ebukam weren't seen practicing. The former two sustained concussions on Sunday night while the latter "rolled his ankle pretty good" on Thursday, per Shanahan.
As expected, Chicago will be without Khalil Mack, the three-time first-team All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowl pass rusher.
Below are the official injury reports for the 49ers and Bears, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff. Also included are Friday's practice participation reports.
