Verrett was able to walk off the field on his own. However, he stopped short of the sideline before grabbing at the knee again and being assisted by the team's training staff.
Verrett left for the locker room after the game resumed but had trouble getting there on his own. He appeared to be tearing up before two trainers came to his assistance to help him get to the locker room. He eventually had to be taken the remainder of the way on a cart and general manager John Lynch was seen with the cornerback, per multiple reports.
Verrett has been plagued with injuries during his NFL career. He has landed on injured reserve in five of his seven NFL seasons but stayed healthy in 2020. The loss would be a devastating blow for the 49ers defense if Verrett has to miss significant time.
Update: According to the following report, Verrett suffered a torn ACL, ending his season.
