San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters via a conference call on Sunday and provided several injury updates following yesterday's preseason loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

While rookie offensive lineman Aaron Banks is expected to miss two to three weeks with a shoulder injury, the most significant injury—at least in terms of severity—might be the loss of wide receiver Austin Watkins Jr.

"Watkins, he has a broken foot. He's going to be out six to eight weeks," Shanahan said. "... We think he did it early in the game because that's what he ended up telling us after. So, got a lot of respect for him for trying to play through that and stuff. I wish he would have told us a little bit earlier.

"I don't know if he knew it was broken or not, but you could see him on tape limping a little bit through that two-minute drive. Then when he got it checked after the game, [it showed him] having a broken bone, so it will be some time for him."

Shanahan also provided updates on several others who did not play last night.

"Guys that we plan on returning for practice tomorrow, hoping to get Azeez (Al-Shaair) back, (Demetrius) Flannigan-Fowles, Samson (Ebukam), (MyCole) Pruitt, and K'Waun (Williams)," the coach said.
