The Niners wrapped up their offseason program a couple of weeks ago, and players are on a break until they report to training camp on July 27. Their first practice will be four days later.
Lance has been working hard during his time off, taking what he learned in the spring and preparing for the rigors of training camp. Several videos (here, here, and here) have surfaced of the rookie quarterback getting in reps during throwing sessions.
According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, Lance stated that he is still working out in Southern California. He has been throwing to teammates, including wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Mohamed Sanu, during those sessions.
"It's been awesome," Lance said via Maiocco. "Those guys are a special group of guys, and I feel very fortunate to be where I am. Those are special guys, so it's hard not to (build chemistry)."
Lance hasn't had time to familiarize himself too much with the Bay Area. Most of his time there was spent at the 49ers' facility in Santa Clara.
"I love the Bay Area," Lance said. "I haven't got to explore a whole lot. As far as the organization and football goes, it's been great."
While Lance is the future, Jimmy Garoppolo is slated to be the 49ers' starting quarterback when the team kicks off against the Detroit Lions on September 12. So there is no rush for Lance, who has the luxury of time to sit and continue learning head coach Kyle Shanahan's complex and demanding offense.
