Update: The 49ers are losing their seventh-round pick in this year's draft as a result of this situation. Click here to read more on that.
On April 25, 2020, San Francisco traded Goodwin and a sixth-round selection in last year's draft to move up 20 spots in that round. The receiver ended up opting out of last season due to concerns surrounding COVID-19 and never played a snap for Philadelphia.
The Buffalo Bills made Goodwin a third-round selection out of Texas in 2013. He hauled in just 12 passes for 186 yards with a touchdown through nine games and six starts with the 49ers in 2019 before landing on injured reserve.
The 49ers can release Goodwin without a penalty.
