"The second week of the year, we didn't have the same team," head coach Kyle Shanahan said, heading into Week 17. "I think we had a pretty unprecedented amount of injuries by Week 2. And then I thought that was rock-bottom, and it wasn't. It was the starting of about 30 other bad things that kept happening, all the way to getting kicked out of our homes by our county to come out here for a month."

Last week, general manager John Lynch expressed confidence that Bosa is progressing well during his rehab away from the 49ers.
"Bosa's doing great in his recovery," Lynch told reporters. "He had a significant injury to his knee, but like everything in life, he attacks it head-on, 100 percent. The only thing with him is pulling him back, so he's not doing too much.
"We've kept in good contact with Nick, with the people who he's training with. With COVID, we felt like it was best to get him out of the building. He went down to Orange County. He's been down there working with some great people and really making tremendous progress. We're very pleased with where he's at."
Bosa was a key contributor to the 49ers' 2019 run toward a Super Bowl appearance. His nine regular-season sacks and four postseason sacks were part of an impressive rookie campaign that earned him NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.
Without Bosa, and while enduring an insurmountable number of injuries, the 49ers finished the 2020 season with just six wins, missing the playoffs for the third time in Shanahan and Lynch's four seasons running the team.
Said Shanahan: "I have every reason to believe, Nick Bosa, the way he works, the way his body is made, he'll be the exact same guy next year."
