Now in his 16th NFL season and first with the New York Jets, Gore's 15,952 career rushing yards rank No. 3 all-time with only Hall of Famers Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton ahead of him.
Gore reached another milestone on Sunday during the Jet's first win of the season. It was his 240th career game, passing Lorenzo Neal (239), who played for seven different teams from 1993-2008. The Jets beat the Los Angeles Rams 23-20.
Gore is closing in on another milestone. He scored his 99th career touchdown on offense, this one coming in the form of a one-yard run in the third quarter. Gore's 99 combined rushing and receiving touchdowns rank No. 25 on the all-time list, which doesn't only include running backs.
Gore already has 100 total touchdowns if you count a score off a fumble recovery from 2012. However, that does not count as a rushing or receiving touchdown in the official statistics. Thanks to Josh Putnam for the find.
"It is not easy to play running back in this league, and especially for that long," fullback Kyle Juszczyk said earlier this season before the 49ers played the Jets. "So kudos to him. He's go to be taking care of his body. But he's still doing it. He's still looks great out there. He still looks strong. He looks quick. It looks like he's making great decisions. He's still a premiere back."
H/t to Patrick Tulini for the find.
Note: Article updated to include the stat for his fumble recovery returned for a touchdown.
