"It's looking optimistic," Shanahan said on the Murph & Mac show. "Hopefully, we don't have any setbacks today. He wasn't able to go Wednesday. He was limited yesterday, but he got out there. I'd be surprised if he doesn't go. I haven't seen him today, so as long as we don't have any setbacks, I'm anticipating to have good news this afternoon."
This afternoon is when the 49ers will release their official game statuses for players.
Williams has started all six games with the 49ers this season, his first with the team. It sounds like that should continue on Sunday.
The 49ers promoted running back JaMycal Hasty from the practice squad to the active roster on October 3 after protecting him in previous weeks. That was because they had to do so. Other teams were interested in signing the undrafted free agent off of San Francisco's practice squad.
"Hasty, with the camp that he had, we felt very fortunate to keep him here on (the) practice squad," Shanahan said. "Some other people knew about him from his college career and probably from people writing articles and stuff on how he looks in practice, so there was a couple of weeks that people tried to steal him from us because people can steal them off your practice squad.
"Once Tevin (Coleman) got hurt, we were able to bring him up. We see his skill set, and that's why we're always excited to go with him if the opportunity comes up."
Hasty has 46 rushing yards on 11 carries this season.
