Over the weekend, 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne hinted via Twitter that he wouldn't mind his team taking a look at veteran free agent Dez Bryant.
Well, if Bourne is pushing for the 49ers to consider Bryant, Owens would like to have his name thrown into the hat too.
Of course, the 46-year-old Owens has not played in the NFL in a decade. He attempted to make the Seattle Seahawks roster during the 2012 offseason but was released before the start of the season.
The former NFL receiver in 2018 campaigned to 49ers general manager John Lynch, saying that he would play for the league minimum. He did so again last year before San Francisco traded for Emmanuel Sanders.
The 49ers made Owens a third-round draft pick out of Chattanooga in 1996. He remained with the team through 2003 before spending time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and Cincinnati Bengals.
The six-time Pro Bowler and five-time first-team All-Pro has 1,078 career receptions for 15,934 yards and 153 touchdowns. Owens ranks eighth all-time in receptions (1,078) and is third (15,934) to receivers Jerry Rice (22,895) and Larry Fitzgerald (17,083) in all-time receiving yards. He also ranks third in all-time receiving touchdowns (153) and fifth among all players in total touchdowns (156).
