Still, that would have been a Day 3 pick. The 49ers haven't owned a Day 2 pick since trading for Dee Ford and Emmanuel Sanders last year. It remained that way throughout Friday's action, as rounds two and three went by without a peep from Lynch, head coach Kyle Shanahan, and San Francisco's staff.
The 49ers' next selection remains the No. 156 overall pick, the 11th selection of the fifth round, on Saturday morning. After that, the team has two more picks — No. 210 overall in the sixth round and No. 217 overall in the seventh.
There was a chance that the 49ers would trade wide receiver Marquise Goodwin on Friday. San Francisco has been shopping the veteran to other teams.
"We're talking with a few teams, and we'll see where that goes tomorrow," Lynch told reporters on Thursday night.
Goodwin remains on the 49ers roster, for now.
Lynch added that Goodwin can still be an asset for another team, but said during a separate conversation on KNBR that the addition of Travis Benjamin made Goodwin expendable.
Added Lynch: "[Goodwin is] an extremely talented player who is a game-changer in terms of what he does to defenses. So, there is interest out there. We'll see where that goes. We're trying to find a good home for him."
