The 49ers rushing attack has been the star of their playoff run, so Reid was asked about defending against the potent run-game. The Chiefs coach quickly shifted his answer to let reporters know that the 49ers run game isn't the only dangerous aspect of the team's offense.
"I wouldn't slight Jimmy (Garoppolo) because Jimmy can throw the ball if they need him to," Reid said as part of his response. "Jimmy's percentages, the passer rating over the last couple of years here, it's up there, in really every situation.
"So as well as they run the football, and as well as they make you honor every gap, every zone on the field, you can't slight the pass game either."
Jimmy Garoppolo has been criticized in recent weeks because of his role in the 49ers' playoff wins. In the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers, for example, he attempted just eight passes and completed six for 77 yards.
