Former NFL head coach and two-time Super Bowl champion, Mike Shanahan, presented the George Halas Trophy to 49ers CEO Jed York, who insisted he hand it to his son, Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan, first.
"You give it to him," York said.
Shanahan was asked about that moment after the game.
"I think that's pretty special," the coach said. "Just to get a trophy handed to you by anyone is just really cool, especially Jed making my dad an honorary captain. ... Jed planned all that and did that. It was pretty cool. I didn't know what was going on but it was pretty cool that it happened there at the end. It was pretty special."
Shanahan and his squad are headed to Miami to play the Kansas City Chiefs in the team's first Super Bowl appearance since the 2012 season for a chance to win the organization's sixth championship.
