During NFL Network's Thursday Night Football pre-game coverage, Irvin was asked to pick a winner in the NFC West. Not only did he pick the Kyle Shanahan-led squad to win the division, but he also made a prediction surrounding their playoff fate.
"That Rams defense, they are playing well, but these two teams (49ers and Seattle Seahawks) right here, they are tops in the NFC West, and I love both of these teams," Irvin said on-air. "But we saw what happened to Seattle, just against that Rams team that you were talking about. They lost the game."
"This (49ers) team, a lot of people talked about when they had back-to-back-to-back games of playing teams with eight wins. They thought that would be to their detriment. I knew it would be to their advantage. They know how to play well on the road, wherever they have to go.
"Week 17, they will go into Seattle and beat Seattle. This team not only wins the West, I say they win the Super Bowl. This team, right here."
