Tom Pelissero of NFL Network provided a couple of updates on Mixon's injury, and there is even a possibility that the running back might be available for the Bengals' Week 2 contest against the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers remained on the East Coast and are staying in Youngstown, Ohio this week as the team prepares for its September 15 matchup at Paul Brown Stadium.
San Francisco also lost a running back to an ankle sprain during its Week 1 contest, a 31-17 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. Tevin Coleman was ruled out at halftime and is having an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the injury.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Coleman is expected to "miss time" due to the injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked after the game if he was concerned about his running back's status.
"Yes, I am," he responded.
