Clowney has been selected to the last three Pro Bowls and joins a Seahawks defense that already features five-time Pro Bowl selection (2014–18), Bobby Wagner.
The Seahawks are sending a third-round draft pick and two players to the Texans in exchange for Clowney, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
The Texans made Clowney, who played college football at South Carolina, the No. 1 overall selection in 2014. He registered 47 combined tackles, nine sacks, a pass defensed, and a forced fumble through 15 games and 14 starts with the Texans in 2018. Clowney has recorded 205 combined tackles, 29 sacks, 11 passes defensed, and five forced fumbles through his five NFL seasons.
The Texans used the franchise tag on Clowney and tried to negotiate a contract with the defensive star, but the two sides could not land on an agreement.
The 49ers and Seahawks play on Monday, November 11 at Levi's Stadium and then again on Sunday, December 29 at CenturyLink Field.
