That's all interesting and all, but it's not why you are here, is it?
You want to know how he feels about the growing bond between his best friend on the team, veteran tackle Joe Staley, and rookie defensive end Nick Bosa. The two can be seen having lengthy discussions off the practice field or between reps.
Should McGlinchey be worried? Has he been replaced?
"I'm not a jealous guy," McGlinchey told Greg Papa and John Lund. "I'm not going to sit here and claim Joe for me, and me only. Joe's got a lot of wisdom to pass on to everybody, and it's good that he does that in his old sage years that he's got going right now."
Maybe it isn't just Staley trying to befriend the rookie. McGlinchey suggested that it might be the veteran trying to learn a thing or two from the talented rookie. Okay, "suggested" might be the wrong word. He straight out said it.
"It's kind of funny because I think Joe's also pulling for Nick because Nick is that good of a pass rusher," McGlinchey continued. "I think it's more Joe asking Nick, 'What are you seeing out there? What's going on? What are you thinking when I do this?'
"But Nick's a great dude and a great teammate. His transition onto our team has been nothing but seamless, and it's no wonder that he's getting close to a bunch of guys, not just Joe."
