With that, the infatuation with a potential Brown-to-49ers scenario continues.
Last week, Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice made headlines when he confirmed that Antonio Brown has a strong desire to play for the 49ers after conversations with the Pittsburgh Steelers wideout. Brown, who has distanced himself from his current team, has made his desire to play for Kyle Shanahan and company apparent with his activity on social media.
Rice once again joined 95.7 The Game on Monday, a week after his headline-grabbing conversation. This time, he was asked about the 49ers' interest in Brown.
"I'm not John Lynch. I'm not Kyle Shanahan," Rice said on the "Joe, Lo, and Dibs" show. "But I think if you've got a player out there that can just really help your team out and take it to a whole different level, why not go after this guy?
"Yes, it's probably going to cost you a lot. You're going to have to maybe relinquish that -- I think they have the number two (overall pick) or something like that.
"I don't know how they're going to be able to make this situation happen but when you've got a player -- now, this guy is only about 30; he's just coming into this prime. He's got maybe five or more good years in him, and he can take this offense to a whole different level along with [quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo] and (tight end) George Kittle."
