The veteran cornerback spoke with the media on Thursday and was asked about his injury. Below are his responses to several questions surrounding the topic.
How is the calf feeling?
Sherman: "It's decent. It has its good days, bad days, but it's feeling alright right now."
Is it something that he will have to deal with throughout the year?
"Yeah, at this point, it's just going to be one of those things. You try to manage as best you can, and you try to get through the week. We're trying to find a schedule to get me through the week and get to Sunday and see how it works out."
What happened during practice last Thursday?
"It just went bad. It got weak and didn't have any strength. So I couldn't run. It didn't allow me to play."
How will you determine if you can play on Sunday?
"I'd probably get out there and run early, but I'm not going to run out and bring a sweater or anything. I'll just run, see how it feels. If it feels good, we're playing. If not, then we'll shut it down and make sure we have enough legs to play the game."
So you are not sure if you will play this week against the Cardinals?
"I'll give you a 'pretty sure.' I'm pretty sure I'm playing this week. Next Thursday (49ers play the Raiders next Thursday night), on Thursday, that's going to be a question for Thursday."
Could it be that you only suit up on Sunday against the Cardinals or Thursday against the Raiders and not both games?
"It's a possibility. I'm going to battle and try to hit both of them, but the body can only do what the body can do."
