The San Francisco 49ers kick off against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, and the following players won't be available to head coach Kyle Shanahan for this contest.
The San Francisco 49ers just released their Week 3 inactive list in advance of their road bout versus the Kansas City Chiefs.
- OG Joshua Garnett
- S Jaquiski Tartt
- WR Richie James
- OL Najee Toran
- DL Jullian Taylor
- OT Shon Coleman
- DB Greg Mabin
Garnett and Tartt aren't big surprises. Both have been dealing with injuries -- a toe and shoulder injury, respectively. Tartt was limited in practice Friday but listed as questionable, while Garnett missed the entire week and was ruled out.
To make up for Tartt's absence, the 49ers called up defensive back Tyvis Powell off the practice squad earlier this week. He might not start, rather Antone Exum gets the job there, but it's a necessary depth move for San Francisco's secondary.
Notably absent from the inactive list is wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, who'll see the field for the first time since suffering a quad injury back in Week 1.
Good news for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers offense. Goodwin's ability to stretch the field should help what's turned into a bit of a problem for the Niners -- receiving targets not being able to generate separation with regularity.
The 49ers and Chiefs kick off at 1 p.m. ET from Arrowhead Stadium.
