- Adonis Alexander, DB, Virginia Tech – Selected by Washington Redskins with a sixth-round bid
- Sam Beal, DB, Western Michigan – Selected by New York Giants with a third-round bid
- Brandon Bryant, DB, Mississippi State – Becomes a free agent
- Martayveus Carter, RB, Grand Valley State – Becomes a free agent
- Bright Ugwoegbu, LB, Oregon State – Becomes a free agent
The selections of Beal and Alexander represent the first time players have been picked in the Supplemental Draft since the then-St. Louis Rams selected former Clemson offensive lineman Isaiah Battle with a fifth-round bid in 2015.
The 49ers sent representatives to the workouts of each available player minus running back Martayveus Carter, who did not hold a workout. San Francisco not selecting a player in the Supplemental Draft means the team will hold on to each of its 2019 draft picks. Had the 49ers bid a draft pick on a player and won the bid, they would have given up a corresponding selection in next year's draft.
Players not selected in the Supplemental Draft immediately become free agents and can sign with any NFL team. While the 49ers did not select a player, it is possible they look at one as a potential free-agent signing.
Three of the five available players were defensive backs. The 49ers have plenty of young prospects at cornerback but don't have a lot of experience at the position. The most experienced player in the defensive backs room is veteran cornerback Richard Sherman, who was signed in March. He is recovering from a ruptured Achilles suffered in November, but is expected to be cleared to participate in training camp.
Second-year cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon is expected to start across from Sherman with converted safety Jimmie Ward competing in the depth chart.
San Francisco added rookies Tavarius Moore and D.J. Reed in the draft and signed Tarvarus McFadden as an undrafted free agent to join a roster that includes K'Waun Williams, who signed a three-year extension in September.
"[The 49ers] have a great (DB) group," Sherman said at the State of the Franchise event in May. "Ahkello is obviously incredibly talented. He's going to be great this year. Adrian Colbert, Jaquiski Tartt, it's going to be a great group of guys, and I'm excited about it. K'Waun Williams, he's incredible at the nickel spot, so I'm excited to be able to grow with that group and see what we're capable of."
