Head coach Kyle Shanahan's father, Mike, was on hand for Tuesday's practice. He watched from the sideline alongside general manager John Lynch.
Below are some notes from Tuesday's practice.
Dante Pettis
Rookie wide receiver Dante Pettis had a nice outing, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. He had five catches, including a 30-yard completion down the sideline from quarterback C.J. Beathard while working against defensive back Terrell Williams. Four of Pettis' receptions came during 11-on-11 drills.
While Pettis' deep reception did not result in a touchdown, wide receiver Aaron Burbridge finished the drive with a score, according to team reporter Joe Fann.
Richard Sherman
Richard Sherman's temporary job as an assistant coach ended on Tuesday when the cornerback was allowed to participate in individual drills. He is coming off of a ruptured Achilles suffered in November while with the Seattle Seahawks. Sherman is not expected to be a full participant in practices until training camp in late July at the earliest.
Cornerbacks
Tyvis Powell and Tarvarius Moore rotated at the cornerback spot opposite second-year starter Ahkello Witherspoon, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN. Powell was able to haul in an interception off quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
Running Backs
Running back Joe Williams fumbled the football following a strip from linebacker Mark Nzeocha, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. Before practice, Shanahan shared how impressed he has been with Williams' improvement since last year.
Injury Update
Wide receiver Max McCaffrey (hamstring) and cornerbacks Richard Sherman (Achilles) and Jimmie Ward (ankle) were limited to individual drills during practice.
Linebacker Dekoda Watson suffered a calf injury during practice. He needed assistance to reach the sideline and the injury initially appeared more serious.
Also absent from practice was wide receiver Marquise Goodwin for unknown reasons.
