Now, we have the following video of tackles Joe Staley and Mike McGlinchey, who were recorded singing Everybody by the Backstreet Boys in a local area bar. Aaron Tan of Niner Noise was kind enough to share the video on Twitter.
The veteran Staley, who is preparing to enter his 12th NFL season, has taken on the role of a mentor for rookie McGlinchey. Staley, however, describes his relationship with McGlinchey differently.
"I'm real excited about my guy, McGlinchey, in my room," Staley said during the 49ers' State of the Franchise event last month. "He's my little brother. I'm finally excited. I have a little brother."
McGlinchey was excited for the opportunity to learn from Staley after being drafted by the 49ers in April.
"It's going to be an incredible opportunity to play across from Joe and learn from him and the kind of guy and player that he is," McGlinchey said during an introductory press conference following the draft. "His reputation exceeds him, and he's deserving of all the credit that he has. I'm very, very excited to get to work with Joe, and learn from him, and hopefully elevate my game to a level he's been playing at for a long time."
H/T to Patrick Tulini for the find.
