Thanks to the 2011 CBA, all rookie contracts are now for a length of four years. Only first-round selections come with an option for a fifth year, which does not apply to any of the three signed players. Having set numbers for each spot eliminates the need to negotiate salaries and only leaves items like bonus payment terms, roster bonus allocations, and other miscellaneous structural items.
Tarvarius Moore
Moore transferred to Southern Miss after two seasons with Pearl River Community College. As a sophomore at Pearl River, he registered 72 tackles.
In his first season with Southern Miss, Moore hauled in two interceptions but made just 17 total tackles in limited play through 13 games. As a senior, he recorded 87 total tackles, three for a loss, three interceptions, 10 passes defensed, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Moore had 14 total tackles and a pass break-up against Florida State in the Independence Bowl.
While he was not invited to the combine, Moore ran a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at his pro day, which caused his stock to rise.
The total value of Moore's four-year contract is believed to be $3,244,372, or very close to that amount, according to Over the Cap. That includes a signing bonus of $784,372 and a 2018 salary cap figure of $676,093.
Jullian Taylor
After four years with the Owls, Taylor broke out during his senior season. He appeared in just three games before 2017, but registered 41 combined tackles and 11 sacks in 12 games last season, according to Sports Reference.
Taylor's 2015 season was cut short following a season-ending left knee injury in the opener against Penn State that required arthroscopic surgery on his meniscus. In 2016, he saw action in Temple's first three games but missed the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL in the same knee, which was also suffered against Penn State.
Taylor's 12.3 run-stop percentage ranked third among qualifying defensive tackles in 2017, per Pro Football Focus.
The total value of Taylor's four-year contract is believed to be $2,558,044, or very close to that amount, according to Over the Cap. That includes a signing bonus of $98,044 and a 2018 salary cap figure of $504,511.
Richie James
James was named first-team All-C-USA as a redshirt freshman after a 107-catch, 1,334-yard, eight-touchdown season. He also carried the football 13 times for 158 yards and a score. James topped those numbers in 2016 when he recorded 105 receptions for 1,625 yards with 12 touchdowns along with 38 carries for 339 yards and four more scores, earning first-team All-C-USA honors again.
James' junior season in 2017 was shortened to just five games due to a broken collarbone.
The total value of James' four-year contract is believed to be $2,536,572, or very close to that amount, according to Over the Cap. That includes a signing bonus of $76,572 and a 2018 salary cap figure of $499,143.
