The three-year extension is worth up to $11.5 million and includes $4.1 million in guaranteed money, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The deal has a base value of $8.5 million with a signing bonus of $2.1 million, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
"Brock stepped up big for us last season when we experienced some adversity at the linebacker position," said head coach Kyle Shanahan via the statement. "He's a selfless guy that does everything the right way. We've always known Brock to be a guy we can count on and it was great to see him play the way he did when given the opportunity."
In early January, Lynch informed reporters that Coyle had surgery on a torn labrum and was expected to miss approximately five to six months.
The 49ers signed Coyle to a one-year deal on March 10, 2017, after he spent his previous three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. In 2017, Coyle appeared in each of the 49ers' 16 games (10 starts) and registered 64 combined tackles, half a sack, a pass defensed, and a forced fumble.
Coyle played most of last season alongside then-rookie linebacker Reuben Foster and was chosen to wear the defense's communications system, which is used to get the plays into the huddle.
During Coyle's three seasons in Seattle, he appeared in 35 games with five starts, making 33 tackles and a sack. He also had four special teams tackles during the postseason with Seattle.
