NFL insider Ian Rapoport jumped on "Murph & Mac" on KNBR 680 to discuss the head coaching and general manager search by the San Francisco 49ers. For those unfamiliar with Buffalo Bills interim head coach Anthony Lynn, who is meeting with the 49ers today, Rapoport shared a little bit about him.

"First of all, he's a name that should be familiar because he interviewed last time," Rapoport said. "I believe considered for the offensive coordinator job after he was not offered head coach if I remember correctly (Note: that is correct)...He's very detail oriented. He's very disciplined, very serious guy. Players love him and I don't mean love him like they want to hang out with him. I mean, they just respect him.


"The example that I'll give for Anthony Lynn is between Week 2 and 3, Bills ownership sat down with a bunch of key players – LeSean McCoy, Tyrod Taylor, Sammy Watkins, and asked about offensive coordinator and play calling. This is before the fired Greg Roman and the refrain from players was how much they wanted Anthony Lynn to have the job and really just be in charge. That's how much respect they had for him.

"So the owners kind of struck up a relationship with Anthony Lynn based on that and have really liked what he's done as far as just putting people in the right place, getting the offense to be functional, getting players to do what they're supposed to do. So he kind of got the respect from the players there. If the players had a vote, I have no doubt that Anthony Lynn would be the Bills' head coach right now."

Lynn has served as the offensive coordinator and running backs coach for the Bills since 2015. He became the interim head coach when Rex Ryan was fired on December 27.
