The 49ers were one of just six teams that do not have a representative in the Pro Bowl. The other five are the Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and Jacksonville Jaguars. The teams that do not have a representative in the Pro Bowl have a combined record of 25-59. The 49ers, at 1-13, possess the worst record between them. Even the winless Browns managed to get a player, OT Joe Thomas, selected.
The Oakland Raiders lead the AFC with seven representatives. The Atlanta Falcons, who dismantled the 49ers on Sunday to the score of 41-13, lead the NFC with six representatives.
However, it is possible that a 49ers player could still make the Pro Bowl, should a coach decide that an alternate from the team is needed. The Pro Bowl takes place January 29 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. This season's Pro Bowl will return to the traditional AFC vs. NFC game format after three years where team captains selected the rosters via a format similar to fantasy football.
