The 49ers safety had an MRI today, which revealed the extent of the injury according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.
In his fourth season with the 49ers since being selected by the team in the first round of the 2013 draft, Reid has 251 career tackles, a sack, 30 passes defended, eight interceptions, and two forced fumbles. This season, he has 48 tackles and one interception through 10 games.
Earlier today, 49ers head coach Chip Kelly confirmed that, should the injury be serious, Jaquiski Tartt would replace Reid in the lineup. Tartt was a second-round selection in 2015.
Reid has played in 742 total snaps this season and is currently the 63rd ranked safety in the NFL, per advanced statistics site Pro Football Focus. That is a big drop from Week 1 where he was ranked as their top safety in the NFL.
