Lisa DeBartolo, daughter of former San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr., joined the TK Show on Friday. The TK Show is the podcast of Mercury News writer Tim Kawakami.

Of course, Lisa made headlines in October when she retweeted two articles that criticized Jed York as the CEO of the team. The first was an article by Lowell Cohn. "You've got to go, son," Cohn said within his article. The second was an article by Ann Killion that stated that losing has become the new norm for the 49ers.


The next week, she loved a photo of a hat posted on Twitter that read "Make Eddie owner again."

Lisa still follows the team, obviously. While discussing the 49ers with Kawakami, she stated that it is tough for a team when you are losing. "You just have to live and breathe the team," Lisa said as advice that she would give York and the 49ers. "You love the game. You love every part of it and be present for it in every season. Like how it was when my dad owned the team. It wasn't just a weekend job. It was a year-long job for those guys and the owner and the coaches."

"I feel bad that Jed is getting so crucified in the media," she continued. "And when I did send out that Tweet, when I retweeted that article, I did not write what happened to Tweet with it that just happened to come out when I retweeted it. I would never ever, ever, want to put any discord in between me and that part of my family. Why on Earth would I want to do that? I just want people to do their best and I want to see Jed win. I want to see him do his best. I want to see the team do their best.

"I'm proud of Colin Kaepernick for kneeling for the national anthem. I love that and I just think it's important that right now, especially, they all stick together and that they don't let media or anything else kind of try to tear them apart."

Lisa said that she called Jed after the tweet. She said that her father didn't really understand the whole Twitter thing so she had to explain it to him. "Don't worry honey," said Eddie DeBartolo Jr. in response. "I've been through things like this before. It will all blow over."


"I did speak with Jed the day after it happened," Lisa said. "I just wanted to reassure him that I did not feel that way and that was not what I meant to Tweet. It was just a complete social media blunder on my part."

Lisa said that she would be there on Sunday for the halftime ceremony honoring Eddie DeBartolo Jr.'s enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as he is presented with the Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence.
