Apr 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who is in the midst of his recovery from a torn Achilles, will be on stage next month to accept the Dwight Clark Award. The honor goes to the 49ers player who best exemplifies Dwight Clark's spirit of teamwork and camaraderie. The fourth Dwight Clark Legacy Series will be held Thursday, May 16, at the California Theatre in San Jose. "Dre is more than deserving of the 2024 Dwight Clark Award," three-time All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner said. "The admiration Dwight's teammates had for him is the same we have for Dre. The way he inspires people through his relentless play is recognized on and off the field. "He's been a brother to me since we drafted him in 2019. I've always said it, I wouldn't be the player I am without Dre Greenlaw. He never asks for praise. He just shows up every day to play the game he loves." Greenlaw, who turns 27 on May 25, is set to enter his sixth professional season after the 49ers selected him in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft from Arkansas. He and Warner have formed one of the top linebacker duos in the NFL, though Greenlaw has yet to be selected to the Pro Bowl. Greenlaw registered two interceptions of Green Bay quarterback...

By David Bonilla
May 9

Dre Greenlaw initially thought someone had stepped on his foot as he returned to the football field during Super Bowl 58. The idea that he had suffered a severe injury didn't cross his mind. Even after he made his way onto the sideline, the San Francisco 49ers' star linebacker didn't anticipate exiting the game permanently. It wasn't until he started trying to put pressure on his foot that he realized more was going on with the injury. Further tests confirmed what the training staff suspected: Greenlaw had torn his Achilles. His absence was a blow for the San Francisco 49ers, who had to continue the game without him. Ultimately, the 49ers lost Super Bowl 58 to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime, a devastating defeat for Greenlaw, who watched from the sidelines as

Dre Greenlaw believes he is making significant progress on his road to recovery from the torn Achilles he sustained in the second quarter of the Super Bowl. "It's coming along," Greenlaw shared last week with NBC Sports Bay Area. And for me, that's, right now, just the strength and the mobility, just trying to get good range of motion in it." Greenlaw isn't predicting a potential date for his return to the football field. He aims to rejoin his teammates early in the upcoming season but will be wise with his recovery. The linebacker has no

An Arsenal of Weapons: The 49ers Have Quietly Become Even More Dangerous on Offense in 2024

By Don Atkinson
May 13

It's not a shock to anyone who looks back at the past two NFL seasons to contemplate that the San Francisco 49ers' offense has finally stepped out of the shadow cast by the team's ever-imposing defense. Since their 2019 Super Bowl run, players like Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, Dre Greenlaw, and former 49ers Richard Sherman and Jimmie Ward have garnered most of the attention when talking about the team. That was indeed the case until 2022, when future Hall-of-Fame running back Christian McCaffrey, who came to San Francisco in a mid-season trade with the Carolina Panthers, changed the conversation. The 49ers' offense was suddenly seen not just as a semi-capable complement to a sterling defense, but rather as a unit that could put up some points, and in a dramatic way. With the
