Deebo Samuel is experiencing firsthand the toxicity that can sometimes infest social media. Or perhaps he's simply being reminded of it. On Wednesday, the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent his frustration with a particular segment of fans who likely criticized how he spends his time off.
Samuel also addressed the offseason rumors about the 49ers potentially trading the dynamic receiver. This topic was prominent at the NFL Scouting Combine, with San Francisco aiming to secure wide receiver
Brandon Aiyuk to a long-term deal.
Many have raised doubts about the team's ability to retain two high-priced receivers on a roster teeming with significant star power.
While Samuel's statistics from the 2023 season may not stand out as his most impressive, he still accumulated 1,117 scrimmage yards and 12 total touchdowns. Notably, his Pro Football Focus grade of 85.4 was his highest since his stellar 2021 All-Pro campaign, ultimately leading to a lucrative contract extension.
