Upon Further Review - Video Podcast #6: If at First You Don’t Succeed, Maybe Losing Is Just Your Style

Oct 29, 2015 at 5:16 AM

Last week, the 49ers got smoked like a cheap cigar...again...by the Seattle Seahawks. In their own house. On a Thursday night. On national TV.

Ugh.

This week, AJ is flying solo, answering your questions and providing what insight he can into the 49ers (many) problems:

And as always, UFR gives you our official picks for the week (for entertainment purposes only, of course):

Rapoport: Don't expect a resolution to the Deshaun Watson saga anytime soon

By David Bonilla
Feb 26, 2021

ESPN reported that quarterback Deshaun Watson met with the Houston Texans last week. Before that, he had been ignoring all attempts by the team to contact him. The Texans have a new head coach and general manager in David Culley and Nick Caserio, respectively, who want Watson to be a part of the team's future. Watson sat down with Culley as a sign of respect. However, the quarterback reportedly reiterated that he has no intention of playing another snap for the Texans. It has nothing to do with the new head coach or general manager. Watson's frustrations with the organization go higher than that — with ownership. It doesn't sound like the standoff will see a resolution anytime soon. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, speaking with NFL Now host Andrew

According to Pro Football Reference, Fred Warner registered a team-leading and career-high 125 tackles, including five for a loss, in 2020. He added a sack, six passes defensed, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. It was enough to finally earn the San Francisco 49ers linebacker his overdue Pro Bowl and All-Pro nods. Warner has a message for fans and analysts who were impressed by the linebacker's exceptional play — "Stay tuned." Maybe we haven't seen anything yet from the young defensive star. Stay tuned. https://t.co/fTNjunwHG0— Fred Warner

By Chaz Inouye
Feb 20, 2021

If one scoured across the internet and 49ers' social media you would see that quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, is the most polarizing and debated topic discussed. Garoppolo has been the starting quarterback since the end of the 2017 season, but missed most of the 2020 season with an injured ankle and was only able to complete two games in 2018 due to a torn ACL. There are other reasons why people want a change at quarterback, but his health seems to be his biggest concern, which is valid. However, Jimmy Garoppolo and his injuries are a microcosm of the 49ers' major issue: their overall team health. Garoppolo would be the poster child for this concern as he plays the most important position on the field, but his injuries, along with those to other significant

49ers the most likely to go from worst to first in 2021, says Gil Brandt

By David Bonilla
Feb 19, 2021

NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt took a look at the eight most-likely candidates to go from worst to first and enjoy a Washington Football Team-type turnaround during the 2021 season. Washington won just three games in 2019 and then increased that total by four in 2020. Seven victories aren't overly impressive, but in a season during which the NFC East was downright awful, it was enough to earn the division crown. At the top of Brandt's ranking are the San Francisco 49ers. Kyle Shanahan's squad was in the Super Bowl just over a year ago, but injuries devastated the roster, and the depth chart was transformed by Week 2, resulting in just six wins. Then
