The San Francisco 49ers announced today that they have re-signed WR Chris Harper to the practice squad.

Harper joined the NFL with the New England Patriots when he was signed as an undrafted free agent in May of 2015. He started on their practice squad, but was later elevated to the active roster and appeared in five games. He only had one reception for six yards through five appearances.

Harper, who was originally signed to the 49ers practice squad on September 5, was promoted to the active roster for Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Rams. He was released yesterday when the 49ers re-signed RB DuJuan Harris – who was released on Monday prior to the team's game against the Rams.

Confused yet? Here is a timeline.

September 3 - Harris released
September 5 - Harris re-signed, Harper signed to practice squad
September 12 - Harris released, Harper promoted to active roster
September 13 - Harris re-signed, Harper released
September 14 - Harper re-signed to the practice squad
