49ers hire Dana Bible as senior advisor

Feb 17, 2016 at 3:24 PM--

According to ESPN's Adam Caplan, the San Francisco 49ers have hired Dana Bible as a senior advisor under new head coach Chip Kelly's staff.

Bible and Kelly are close friends and have often bounced ideas off of each other in the past. "Kelly and Dana Bible liked to talk football. Their conversations always drifted toward X's and O's, and the animated, Northeastern-bred coaches would often act out the plays they crafted in their heads," said a Philly.com article by Jeff McLane in September of 2015.

Bible has experience as a college assistant and NFL coordinator. He served as the quarterbacks coach for the Cincinnati Bengals from 1990 until 1992 and was the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1998. Among the college ranks, Bible served as the offensive coordinator at Boston College, Miami of Ohio, NC State, and Stanford. He was even the interim head coach for NC State in 2012.

Bible has coached a few prominent names throughout his career, most notably Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who he coached at Boston College.

'We've got to finish the job': Kyle Shanahan discusses the state of the 49ers

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, like his players and staff, is itching to get back to football. As good as the 2019 season was, it ended on a sour note. A heartbreaking note, to be more accurate. The 49ers are motivated to climb back up that mountain and finish what they couldn't last season. This offseason has thrown its share of obstacles at the 49ers, though. A global pandemic has changed the way NFL teams conduct their offseason programs. Players haven't even been allowed into NFL facilities. They won't be until training camp next month, at the earliest. OTAs and minicamps have been replaced with Zoom video conferences and dissecting every detail of every play of the offense. Still, no one has been able to see how any of the

Trent Williams athletic enough to play 3-technique, says 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan

There is no doubt that Trent Williams is among the most athletic offensive linemen in the NFL. The tackle joined the San Francisco 49ers via a trade in April and will replace another athletic offensive lineman in recently retired Joe Staley. It's not often that a team can lose a player like Staley and gain one like Williams. The 49ers offensive line shouldn't miss a beat during the transition, and some might argue that it may have improved with the switch. Head coach Kyle Shanahan was in Washington when the team drafted Williams and is excited to bring him to the Bay Area. Shanahan knows a good NFL tackle when he sees one. "I've been so fortunate, just in the places I've been, to be with some of the best tackles in the league," Shanahan told Greg

ESPN identifies 49ers-Texans trade that would be a win-win for both teams

By David Bonilla
Jun 25, 2020

ESPN's Field Yates named five win-win NFL trades on Thursday morning, all while noting that such deals are unlikely. NFL trades, in general, are rare compared to other leagues, but the ESPN insider went ahead with the task anyway. The San Francisco 49ers were involved in one of the hypothetical trades, and it involved shipping off the team's second-round pick from 2018 — wide receiver Dante Pettis. Who would the Niners get in return? The Houston Texans' fourth-round selection from the same year, wide receiver Keke Coutee. "Coutee -- taken in the 2018 draft, like Pettis -- provides San
