Watch: Eddie DeBartolo, other inductees being told they made it into the HOF

Feb 16, 2016 at 8:04 AM--

NFL Network posted the video of the eight inductees, including former San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo, being told for the first time that they made it into the 2016 class for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

It's a fun watch as the eight open their hotel room doors and realize that a dream has just come true.

After purchasing the 49ers in 1977, DeBartolo helped the team to five Super Bowl championships and 16 consecutive seasons of 10 or more wins during his 23 years as owner. The five championships the 49ers won in 14 years remains a record total for a single owner.

Included in those watching in horror were several San Francisco 49ers players, including Richard Sherman, who, like so many, wondered how the situation might have been handled differently by authorities had the skin color of those taking part in the chaotic mob been different. The cornerback didn't mince words, calling the angry protesters

Yes, Watson does have a no-trade clause in his contract. If he pushed the Texans to trade him, the quarterback would at least have the power to approve of his destination. The divide between Watson and the Texans has made for an interesting offseason so far, at least for the teams not participating in postseason play. The young quarterback would be considered an upgrade for most of the teams watching the playoffs from home. San Francisco 49ers fans have to wonder what kind of magic Kyle Shanahan might dial up with

Count Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice among those San Francisco 49ers fans who believe the team should look into trading for disgruntled Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. Rice joined 95.7 The Game on Monday morning and made his case for a deal after being asked if the move is something San Francisco should pursue. "Yeah, I think they should (trade for him)," Rice said on The Morning Roast. "You've got to look at all your options, and you look at Deshaun Watson, and there are rumors that he might go to Miami, he might go to the Patriots, and also the 49ers." Rice noted that he likes current 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo but acknowledges that he
