Watch: Eddie DeBartolo, other inductees being told they made it into the HOF

Feb 16, 2016 at 8:04 AM--

NFL Network posted the video of the eight inductees, including former San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo, being told for the first time that they made it into the 2016 class for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

It's a fun watch as the eight open their hotel room doors and realize that a dream has just come true.

After purchasing the 49ers in 1977, DeBartolo helped the team to five Super Bowl championships and 16 consecutive seasons of 10 or more wins during his 23 years as owner. The five championships the 49ers won in 14 years remains a record total for a single owner.

Don't expect San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to go anywhere anytime soon. On Monday morning, at the NFL owners' meetings in Arizona, general manager John Lynch made it clear the team plans to exercise the star player's fifth-year option. "Brandon's been excellent for us," Lynch told reporters. "I'd be shocked if we didn't. We still have some time. It's (the deadline) the day after the draft, I believe, we have to make those decisions. And so we're still discussing, but it probably makes sense to do that for Brandon. "He's a really good player. It's interesting when you're at these league functions, ownership meetings, combine, a lot of people ask about him. They really appreciate his game, and they see it ascending. And he's a guy we're very

The San Francisco 49ers have seen consistent success over the past four years, making the NFC Championship Game three times and the Super Bowl once, despite not having an elite solution at quarterback. Instead, they've maneuvered their way through the NFL Draft, acquiring stars such as Fred Warner, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, Arik Armstead, Dre Greenlaw, and Jimmie Ward, all of whom earned a second contract extension with the team. Now, those extension talks didn't all go smoothly, as Samuel requested a trade last offseason, while the 49ers were at odds with Kittle during negotiations. However, the 49ers are soon to face their toughest task of them all: extending star edge rusher Nick Bosa, who could be in line to demand the biggest contract for a

Change is inevitable in the NFL. Free agency can often mean drastic change. For the San Francisco 49ers, it meant the departure of 12 unrestricted free agents who found new homes with teams willing to pay them more for their services. "[W]hile I am happy for them and their families, I am also sad to be losing some of my closest friends for the last 5 years," tight end George Kittle posted on Instagram, discussing the initial flurry of roster activity at the start of the new league year. While there were more exits than arrivals, San Francisco added one big-name free agent—defensive lineman Javon Hargrave. It's a move that bolsters the interior of a
